The Dortmund team that made it all the way to Wembley for the Champions League Final was really something special. They're bright shirts, sparkling football, and all-round like-ability factor saw them shoot up in the popularity of every football hipster wannabe in the land. They were everybody's favourite European team. Mats Hummels was a huge factor in that team, and has since been linked with moves to Barcelona, Manchester United, Arsenal, and just about any giant side in need of a defensive patch up. However, Dortmund's sorry demise throughout last season was partially brought on by a decline in Hummels' high standards. The German defender himself opened up about being overweight and feeling the effects of it. Still, he will remain as one of the best defenders in the game due to his past.
