Mesut Ozil suffered a torrid spell at Arsenal, not because he was truly awful, just down to his 100% averageness. His high fee combined with mediocre performances drew a wide range of critics and fans wondered whether he'd be departing the Emirates sooner than expected. However, the German star turned it around, and looks like one of the first names on the team sheet for the Gunners. His technique and skill on the ball is masterful, and justifies a high overall rating, but does that mean he should be boosted up another point to 87? No. His 86 rating last season looked steep after his poor run of form, but he raised his game up to that level, though 87 is excessive. He needs to add more goals to his game before he can be rated that highly.
