Liverpool's new fall guy was actually one of their most creative players last year, chipping in with as many chances created as James Milner. For a defender, that's no bad going. Unfortunately, on the defensive side of his game, a lot could have been improved.
His passing isn't great, he made a couple of mistakes (less than Emre Can, actually, but he's an easier target), and he seems to have become one of those players that Liverpool fans love to hate. Perhaps that accounts for the two point ratings drop, because there's no much in his stats that suggests why.
