It's almost like Cristiano Ronaldo knew he'd be FIFA 18's best player when he posed for that beaming in-game photograph. That top spot comes despite a 2-point drop to pace and a single point drop to dribbling. A year older, Ronaldo is still speedy, but not quite the rapid wing man he was in FIFA 17.
EA have compensated for this by putting Ronaldo's shooting up a point. Forget the left wing recommendation and play CR7 through the middle as a lone striker. You'll thank us later, because that's where he's best-suited in FIFA 18. Nobody shoots like Cristiano, and nobody has that lethal combination of pace and physical attributes either.
The war will rage on between Messi and Ronaldo in real-life football, but for the second year running Cristiano is king. Overall, it's not just that 94 rating (compared to Messi's 93) that's better. His pace, shooting and physical stats are all higher, and he's even better at tracking back defensively than his Barca rival.
