FIFA 18: 10 Changes EA Sports Must Make

8. Elements Of The Journey Brought Into Virtual Pro

For so many reasons The Journey is an inspired move. Tapping into the usually dead by Year 8 dream of being a pro footballer, to the point where, when Aguero/Costa/Giroud goes down in the preseason friendly one is inspired to give a solemn nod of the head and admit ‘my time is now’.

But that ability to craft your own single player journey has existed for many years in the Virtual Pro mode. So, now we know that it works, why not bring some of the features from the journey into VP?

I’m not saying replace it. The Journey has you play as a young black man from the inner city who works hard and ends up in the big leagues. That is an excellent narrative that shouldn’t have taken until 2016/17 to come to fruition.

What would be nice is a few of the flourishes that made The Journey so playable. The training sessions to fight your way into the team. The press coverage. The post match interviews. Little touches that bring the campaign to life.
