Is there some kind of quota EA have to fill when it comes to the Waldstadion? That ground was chosen for Olympique Lyonnais in last year's FIFA, largely because the club were in the process of bedding into their new Parc Oympique Lyonnais stadium. Securing the rights to this new ground was probably a bit ambitious on such short notice.

The Stade de Gerland is consigned to history as part of the FIFA series, but a club as huge as the French side needs proper representation. In FIFA 18, seeing Lyon's new stadium feels like something that has to happen. It's not often that EA get the chance to fully recreate such a fresh venue.

It'll feel weird if PSG have the Parc des Princes and Marseille have the Orange Vélodrome, but Lyon continue to play in one of the generic grounds. As one of French football's top sides, Lyon surely merit seeing their brand spanking new home in FIFA 18.
