FIFA 18: 7 Players Who Can’t Be Happy With Their Rating
2. Marco Reus
Oh, Marco, what happened? The Borussia Dortmund playmaker missed the start of the 2016-2017 season through injury, but returned to score 13 goals across 24 appearances in league and cup competitions before being sidelined again this past May. Injuries did play a part in his FIFA 18 slide, but they are drastic from EA.
Last year's cover star dropped from a rating of 88 overall to 86 this year, and his stats are all over the place. Pace has gone from 90 to 88 and dribbling from 86 to 85. Meanwhile, defending and physical have both been raised a point, and shooting is up from 85 to 87. That doesn't quite explain why Reus is only 64th in the Top 100.
In FIFA 17, Marco was 25th in the rankings and looked in fine fettle to improve on that. As the game's poster boy, he was treated akin to footballing royalty in the pre-release hype. EA forgot about all that quickly, didn't they? This year, Reus is still a good player but nowhere near the level he was considered at in 17.
That has to sting.
