FIFA 18 Vs. PES 2018: Which Game Is Better?

7. Licenses (FIFA)

FIFA 18
EA Sports

This is an area in which PES just can't compete with the might of EA Sports. Backed by the official branding of FIFA, EA have systematically scooped up a ton of licenses over the years, including the all-important Premier League.

Over in PES, the same fake names like London FC (Chelsea), North East London (Spurs) and Merseyside Blue (Everton) are still prevalent. It can't be denied that this removes some element of fun from the game, and it definitely strips authenticity. Fan-created data patches or not, seeing a perfectly-modelled Harry Kane stroll out in a strip that isn't remotely like the one he wears in real life is a hollow experience out of the box.

PES does hold a few key licenses like Barcelona, Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund and the Champions League/Europa League double header, but FIFA is the winner in this category by a long way. There's no getting away from it. If you need real players playing for real teams in real stadiums for real trophies, then FIFA 18 is still the one.

Winner: FIFA 18.
