FIFA 18 Vs. PES 2018: Which Game Is Better?

6. Career Mode (FIFA)

FIFA 18

There was a time when Konami's simple Master League format made it the absolute best Career Mode in football video games. Those days are over. FIFA 18's own Career Mode isn't perfect, but EA have made strides this year and left PES 2018 in the dust. Worse yet for Konami, all they can do is copy their rivals and play catch up.

Signing players via the new agent negotiations feature is a sheer joy in FIFA, and it adds to the overall immersion and idea of actually being a football manager. Over in PES land, Master League is still bogged down by a silly (and restrictive) financial system that feels archaic by comparison to FIFA's free-flowing, incentive-based transfer kitty.

Master League is in dire need of an update. The formula may have worked way back in 2001, but it has aged terribly in an era when players expect just a little bit more bang for their buck. Though there's time for Konami to rescue things over the next couple of years, they're lagging behind FIFA in terms of a solid Career.

Winner: FIFA 18.
