FIFA 19: 10 Expert Tips To Play Like A Boss
9. Don't Panic Change Players When Defending
There's a key word: panic. It's a deceptively important one in FIFA 19, and it's almost as though EA have tried to show that defensive miscommunication is the difference between snuffing out attacks and picking the ball from your own net.
The temptation when defending is to close down a player in possession as soon as possible by switching to the nearest available player. Don't do that, because you'll take that defender out of position and actually leave your team struggling to fill space when they should be marking other attackers.
A better strategy is holding down the sprint button on an already-beaten defender who's tracking back and trying to put the possessor off.
That way, players in front of him won't compromise your back line and leave things open for a through ball or shot. It sounds so simple in theory, but resisting those subconscious button presses that shift between ghost markers is harder in practice.
