4. Make The Journey More Personal
Adding narrative and role-playing elements to a football sim was a bold move on EA Sports' part, and one that has paid off for the most part. The Journey differentiated the latest versions of FIFA from past editions as well as the series' rivals.
That said, there are many ways it could be expanded and improved upon, and more personalisation would be a good start. The option to create a player from scratch, instead of becoming Alex Hunter, would make this mode a unique experience.
Alex could be the default for those who have enjoyed following his career so far, but the option to cut ties with his rigid narrative and shape your own story would be more liberating. Think Be A Pro, except with narrative elements.
If EA Sports was to provide this, the possibilities would be almost endless. Imagine being involved in a true rags-to-riches story to rival that of Jamie Vardy, starting out on the bottom rung of the English football ladder and working your way up to international level, complete with all the off-the-pitch drama that comes with that.
