FIFA 21: 10 Improvements To Ultimate Team We Want To See
These changes could restore FUT to its former glory.
Ever since the introduction of the Ultimate Team feature in FIFA 09, the game mode has become the most popular on the franchise, creating a financial behemoth for EA to reap the rewards of on a yearly basis as players spend their hard-earned money trying to assemble the perfect team.
Initially appearing as DLC, FUT is now one of the integral parts of a new FIFA title, due in large part to the amount of money it generates.
In 2014 EA released an infographic highlighting just how popular Ultimate Team has become, with 64% of all players actively playing online on FUT, a number that has no doubt risen in the years since.
However, some fans have complained that in recent years EA has become formulaic in recent instalments of the franchise and that even the cash cow priority that is Ultimate Team is suffering as a result.
With a mixed reception surround the most recent instalment of the footballing franchise, calls to boycott the series have reached an all-time high, so if EA wants FIFA 21 to be successful they're going to have to be willing to change their ain't broke don't fix it mentality, and provide players with an all-new experience.
10. Larger List Of Icons
One of the best features about FIFA 20 was the list of icons. Trying to whittle down a shortlist of which legendary players should be included in the game was always going to be difficult, but credit where credit is due, EA managed to get a good mix of players from different leagues and eras.
Another nice touch with the Icon players is creating several cards to reflect how they developed both in terms of skill and positioning throughout their careers.
However, if FIFA 21 is going to prove to be the big step forward for the franchise that fans have been hoping for, the list of Icons needs to be increased significantly.
One of the most frequently stated players in wishlists for new Icons is that of former Manchester United, Real Madrid, and England star David Beckham. Beckham had previously served as the cover star for FIFA 98: Road To The World Cup in the UK so it would be great to see him immortalised in the new title.
