Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk is the Anfield side's highest rated player, and, in any other year, would probably have a nice shiny Ballon d'Or to polish. The lack of a continental gong has probably undermined his ranking somewhat, but there are worse things than being labelled the 7th best footballer on the planet.
