2. Certain Areas Have Endlessly Respawning Enemies
Which is somewhat fine, this is a Final Fantasy game after all. However in creating a world where you can see all the enemies roaming around across the plains, the only way to allow for random spawns out of the ether has turned into the advent of the Magitek Troops; groups of extremely annoying enemies who'll constantly drop out of ships until you move away. The problem is by putting a focus on endless combat and indulging in the fairly broken systems within, it only highlights how quickly you can get tired of the 'feel' of encounters in the first place. It is worth pointing out that sticking with the fights, taking the time to heal your team (if you're not being locked in an enemy animation anyway) and grinding some levels helps with the fact that at the opening of the game Noctis in particular is severely underpowered. Outside of the parry attacks and time spent levelling you'll forever be ambling around wounded, and this relentless design does little to get away from the fact that consistent battles not broken up by some exploration or world-indulgence is a chore. Worst is if you've just scraped through a battle by summoning Ramuh at the last second, only for all the pyrotechnics of his animation to play out, the field to empty and the battle to be won... only for the sound of another ship approaching, immediately ruining all sense of completion. Some fans will love this idea of grinding as much as possible, rather like the option to stay in combat from Type-0, but for everyone else it's just way too unbalanced.
