Final Fantasy XV: 9 Big Changes You Need To Know About
4. The Cast
Remember all those quirky Final Fantasy characters of yesteryear? There's been all kinds over the years. Black mages, giant stuffed creatures controlled by a cat, rat girls, clowns, a guy with a monkey tail and even a crazy chef monster obsessed with frogs. There's been vampires, Blitzball players and whatever Fran was in FFXII. Unfortunately, it appears that this quirkiness isn't present in XV. Instead, XV's cast of characters are a bunch of standard anime-style males with impossible hair and an affinity for wearing black clothing. Developers Square Enix have went on record stating that the game will feature no female playable characters (unless things change in the remainder of development) as this has been the plan since XV began years ago as Final Fantasy Versus XII. This is, apparently, to tie in with the game's road-trip vibe. Noctis and his pals are off on a trip around the world in their car, and their ongoing bromance will be a core focus in the game. It's a shame to see a limit on the cast in this way, but there's every chance that the supporting characters might make up for this limitation. As long as each of the guys in Noctis' crew has a distinct personality and isn't another Hope from FFXIII, it shouldn't be too bad.
