First WWE 2K16 Footage - Everything You Need To Know

4. The Roster Really Will Be Massive

Various claims have been made in the past about the roster in these games being the biggest to date, with the promised multiple Superstars to play as often boiling down to six different variations of John Cena in slightly differently coloured cargo shorts. However, there really are going to be over 120 playable Superstars in the game, including those from NXT, and even Arnold Schwarzenegger as The Terminator. It was mentioned at GamesCom that those will be 120 "unique" characters too. Apparently, rather than just trotting out thirty or forty versions of the same character to get the numbers up to 120, WWE 2K16 won't actually count the same wrestler with a different costume as two different playable wrestlers. That means the young Brock Lesnar for example wouldn't count as being separate to the current iteration. However, WWE Superstars with different gimmicks will be counted as being unique characters. That means - if they're even in the game - Dude Love, Cactus Jack, and Mankind would all be separate, as would presumably the masked and Corporate versions of Kane. It's going to be tricky for them to decide which is which, and while there's inevitably going to be some overlap, it seems like the promise of the biggest and most expansive WWE video game roster to date is one they're actually going to fulfil this time. Now, here's hoping it also applies to the Divas Division, eh?
