4. Nuno Gomes (Portugal)
Position: Striker/AMC Age: 37 Former Club: Blackburn Rovers The former Portuguese international who scored 29 goals for his country, and made waves at Benfica and Fiorentina before heading to Blackburn for a swansong season in the Championship. But the player remains available after his 18 appearance, 4 goal stint in the North West, attracting attention from a select few clubs across Europe, and remaining a good option for clubs in a similar position to Blackburn looking for more squad options. His striking and leadership attributes are a big bonus, and Gomes will add another dimension from the bench for upwardly mobile Championship sides, and a season at £15k a week isn't a massive stretch for any player looking for a quick return. That probably won't be 20 goals, but if he can chip in with 8-10, he pays for himself as a squad addition to play in less challenging games, or as an option to give your first choice front line something of a break from the rigors of too many fixtures.
