14. Dries Mertens
I'm not offering up a drastically new name to proceedings when I suggest Dries Mertens. I certainly wouldn't recommend throwing £16.5m at Mertens from the very beginning, there's a better way to go about signing him. Mertens is 28, but at the end of the first season he has a tendency to be transfer listed. If that happens - like it has done on other gamers' save files - you can snap up the Belgian for around £3m. That is an absolute steal for a potential Premier League star and if you get two or three seasons from him, you've won.
