Paris Saint-Germain look like a bastion of invincibility on the domestic front these days, but numerically speaking, they're not France's most successful club. That honour goes to AS Saint-Etienne, who have won Ligue 1 a whopping 10 times thanks to a period of dominance during the 1970s.

Terms like 'fallen from grace' and 'history club' are often bandied about in relation to them, and it's all completely justified since they last won silverware in 1981.

It's your job to change that, and with an eighth-placed finish last season and a reasonably solid squad, there's a platform to build from. That said, many of Saint-Etienne's best players like Loic Perrin and Stephane Ruffier are on the wrong side of 30, and thus fresh blood is a must.

Players who take on this challenge will have a modest budget on their hands in FM18, so building up your facilities and scouting network is a must, and patience is the key in an age where PSG and Monaco can buy virtually anyone and your local rivals Lyon are streets ahead.
