While the Premier League is undoubtedly the best footballing league in the world, and certainly one of the toughest, the Championship represents a different challenge entirely. While there are always the usual suspects sniffing around the top of the Premier League, the country's second tier is different every single season.

With just three promotion spaces up for grabs, taking the step up is notoriously difficult. Firstly, there are always three teams fresh out of the Premier League that should, theoretically, be better than the rest of the league, and hungry for redemption. Not to mention the handful of teams that are often close, but never quite grab the coveted promotion spot.

One such team in the Championship is Derby County. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride. Three out of the previous four seasons have seen the side finish in a playoff spot, but they have still not been able to end their now 11 season stay in the second division.

Not only should you challenge yourself to win promotion to the Premier League, you should take it one step further and survive once you’re there. Derby County currently hold the record for the lowest points total ever in a Premier League season, and this is certainly something that needs redeeming.
