Football Manager 2020 Tactics: How To Play 4–4–2 The Burnley Way
6. The Ball Carrier
It probably comes as no surprise that Burnley dribble the ball less than any other team in the Premier League. They’re not exactly littered with players who have ankle breaking Dribbling, Agility and Balance. But they do have one player in their ranks with the potential to be the ‘Rochdale Ronaldo’, Dwight McNeil. In real life he makes up 31% of the side's dribbling attempts. Our in-game approach can help him achieve something similar.
Option A is to use him as an Inverted Winger on the right cutting in on his left foot and dribbling towards goal for a shot or a through ball to the forwards.
Option B is to use him on the left wing to use his dribbling ability to get past full backs and cross for the forwards. In this position, use him as a Wide Playmaker so the majority of attacks go through him. Either approach will help get the best out of McNeil and drive up his transfer value.
