Fortnite Chapter 2: 8 Biggest New Changes
Fortnite is back, but it will never be the same again.
After a somewhat disappointing Season 10 (or Season X, as it was dubbed), burdened by the controversial mechs and a map cluttered with promotional events, Fortnite needed something big to regain players' interest.
Epic Games provided just that, with the live finale event of Fortnite's tenth season seeing the rocket at Dusty Depot launch, blasting open rift after rift in the sky, and eventually causing the comet hanging over the Depot to crash into the island.
This led to a huge explosion, creating a black hole that sucked in the entire island and then... nothing. Players were sent into a frenzy trying to guess when, or even *if*, the game would return.
As it turns out, they didn't have to wait long, with the new season beginning just two days later. Dubbed Fortnite Chapter 2, this is the biggest update the game has seen in a long time, with not just the standard addition of new a Battle Pass but an entire new map, along with a slew of other changes.
So, what's new in everyone's favourite Battle Royale?
8. New Map
Most obvious of the changes is the fact that the island fans have come to know and love has been replaced in its entirety. Almost all of the old island's locations are gone, aside from new versions of Retail Row, Pleasant Park and Salty Springs.
In their place are a whole host of new locales, such as Slurpy Swamp, where standing in certain water segments will steadily fill your shields; Steamy Stacks, a power plant with vats of purple liquid which give off an updraft you can glide from, like the old volcano area; and Sweaty Sands, a beach area that sits on a bay full of islands to explore. There are also numerous smaller Landmark locations to find dotted around the map.
It's not just the locations that have changed with this update - the entire geography of the island has been altered. Gone are the familiar desert, jungle and ice biomes, replaced with a less cluttered island filled with rolling hills, high peaks and a number of rivers and lakes.
The fact that there's so much more water now is a result of the next new feature...
