Game Publishers Of 2019: 6 Biggest Winners & 6 Biggest Losers
1. Winner: Capcom
At present, Capcom can just do no wrong.
The company has an abysmal run throughout the PS3/360 generation, where they pitifully chased Western trends and bastardised their most beloved franchises. Then three years ago that all stopped.
They held back on quantity and doubled down on the quality. Since then, we've gotten peak titles like Resident Evil 7 and Monster Hunter: World. Both are fantastic examples of games that retained everything you loved about the brand titles, whilst modernising and evolving them.
This year saw only two major releases from the mega-corp, Resident Evil 2 and Devil May Cry V, with both prime examples of 2019 best games. They stand as excellent throwbacks to iconic franchises, whilst pushing the formulas forward as well. And good lord is that RE Engine sexy.
Next year, we will no doubt see their infallible approach continue. Bring on Resident Evil 3!
