Gamescom 2015: Every Brand New Gameplay Demo You Need To See

8. Scalebound

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_MZ-MmyIbU Watched How to Train Your Dragon and wished there was a game to boot? Platinum Games apparently did the same, as their Monster Hunter-meets-Devil May Cry hybrid is shaping up to be one of the defining reasons to plump down some cash on an Xbox One. Playing as the human Drew and befriending a hulking dragon named Thuban, you literally set about decimating platoons of guards and enemies in a very Final Fantasy-looking world - albeit one replete with flame-attacks and Bayonetta/DMC-style juggle combos. The great thing is director Hideki Kamiya is injecting a huge number of RPG components into the game too, fleshing out the world and putting an emphasis on both collectibles and levelling up - giving it a great sense of replayability if they can pull it all together. Considering the success of Monster Hunter both in the Japan and slowly in the US, the fact Platinum Games have delivered flawless titles from Vanquish to Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising and the fact the concept is just amazingly fun (who doesn't want a pet dragon?) makes this a highlight of the show so far.
