Gamescom 2015: Every Brand New Gameplay Demo You Need To See

9. Mad Max

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1ruwAJMX9Q Talk about missing a launch window, you have to imagine Just Cause developers Avalanche simply didn't expect Mad Max's return to the silver screen in Fury Road to be as defining and successful as it was - as surely they'd of sped up production on this to cash in alongside? Regardless, the game is looking to be this year's Shadow of Mordor; something that takes an established universe, riffs on it just enough with an all-new story and heft of perfected open-world mechanics, then lets you play away to your heart's content. Coming from the team who brought you Just Cause, explosions and car-battles are suitably visceral and weighty, their exquisite physics engine meaning if you spec-up your custom ride with a number of spikes and metal barricades, ramming into opponents causes all sorts of debris-flinging anarchy. Mad Max might be getting a little criticism for not pushing the envelope and aping too many established gameplay styles for its own good, but when it didn't harm Shadow of Mordor and said styles are incredibly enjoyable, it'll still be the perfect accompaniment to the movie in the end.
