God Of War 2017 Wishlist: 10 Things We Want To See
9. A Very Different Kratos
Kratos himself is the one constant between the original God of War series and the reboot. The previous games saw Kratos filled with an incandescent, unsatable rage that drove him on the most epic killing spree in the history of video games. It is clear from the footage of the reboot that Kratos has changed, if not entirely.
Kratos' change in character is fascinating, and fully exploring who he is now will give the game a solid core to build on. The gameplay footage shows Kratos teaching his young son how to track and kill a deer, and Kratos has to force down his anger to keep from scolding the child too harshly.
He copes with his son's stumbling and failures in a way the old Kratos would have found impossible. Kratos hasn't mellowed completely - he still kills his enemies with a combination of martial flair and raw skull-squashing brutality - but making him deeper and more complex would help propel the new God of war towards something very special.
