God Of War PS4 Review: 10 Critical Reactions You Need To Know

1. It's One Of The Best Games Of The Generation

While you can get into the weeds of which game has scored higher, the amount of praise God of War has received across the board is undeniable, and there's a good chance that it could go down as one of the most highly-reviewed games of the generation, across any platform. It's currently only behind both Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey on Metacritic, pretty damn fine all things considered.

Sitting at a healthy 94 overall score on Metacritic, as well as receiving rare perfect 10s from the likes of IGN, Polygon, GamesRadar, Easy Allies, Destructoid and Eurogamer to name but a few, the overall consensus is ridiculously positive. There are of course outlets who are a little less hot on it, but even those harsher critics have rarely dipped below the 80 mark.

A lot of people no doubt had high hopes that God of War would review well, but I don't think anybody - potentially not even Sony themselves - expected this level of success.
