Or they could just take one giant leap for mankind, say "sod it" and blast off into outer space.

GTA rival Saints Row has used the cosmos before, so this wouldn't be the most original concept for Rockstar to debut in 6. That doesn't mean they shouldn't give it a bash, because the folks who started this whole sandbox crime trend deserve to have a say on space exploration too.

A mission or two away from Earth wouldn't hurt, surely.

There are gamers who fancy channeling their inner Neil Armstrong and hitting the moon, Mars and other planets in GTA 6. These people are crazy, of that we have no doubt, and yet they also open up a tasty topic that might just give GTA a shot in the arm. Maybe it's time the series went in a different direction.

Don't forget the pasting GTA 4 took from some corners for drenching itself in gritty realism. Space may be the answer then, and show long time fans that Rockstar, just like NASA back in 1969, aren't afraid to take risks.
