The actual release date for GTA VI has unsurprisingly been hotly contested over the past decade, but the assumption has been that it'll drop around 2024 based on comments made by Rockstar's parent company, Take-Two.

Though some were hoping for a surprise drop in 2023, that no longer looks like the case, as developers speaking to Bloomberg said they anticipated "at least" two more years of development, taking the earliest release date up to the second half of 2024. Of course, we know how difficult video game development is, and it wouldn't be a Rockstar release without some kind of delay, so 2025 could be more likely.

Take-Two wouldn't have confirmed the game after shrouding it in mystery for so long if it wasn't on the way though, and a launch in two or even three years time is much preferred to earlier rumours which suggested the sequel wouldn't drop until deep into the second half of the 2020s.
