7. Grand Theft Auto 2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOxowpH2rDA At the time of GTA 2's release, the series still hadn't become the megastar it was destined to. It was still in the top-down 2D perspective, and this would be the last game in the series to be released before the jump to 3D. And if you're trying to say goodbye to the 2D era, you can't go wrong with GTA 2. Not only is it just a better game than all the other 2D entries, but the soundtrack is fantastic. It might be one of the best soundtracks in all of gaming, as the diversity of artists and tracks is something to be admired. There's a strong mix of house, techno, rap and funk music and it's a very broad collection of music with a lot of variety - something which is very important in a GTA soundtrack and a trait the series would become known for. You can definitely feel the care that Rockstar took with it, making sure that it's a nice, compatible pile of tracks. As the last 2D game in the series, it holds a certain spot in the history of the franchise, and it's a perfect way to end Rockstar's time in the top-down perspective.
