5. Luigi Gotorelli
Luigi is one of the first characters that Claude meets in Grand Theft Auto 3 when they are introduced by 8-ball and he is immediately memorable, not least because he owns Luigi's Sex Club 7 right in the heart of the Red Light District of Portland Island. Luigi's missions serve as an introduction to the mechanics of the game as Claude hunts down rival drug dealers and pimps as well as stealing cars. Luigi has himself been accused of being a pimp, which he denied despite his lawyer confirming that it was, in fact, true. This leads to one of the greatest early missions in any Grand Theft Auto game in which Claude must pick up a number of prostitutes and take them to a party for the Liberty City Police Department themselves! This sheer lack of fear about conducting his business in public makes Luigi one of the greatest GTA characters of all time in my opinion, whereas many characters try to hide their misdeeds, Luigi flaunts them, making himself all the less likely to be held accountable for them in the process. Luigi is alive and well and although it would mean him leaving the Sex Club 7 behind for a length of time if he was a central character in Grand Theft Auto 5, he could always be a background character or simply appear in the game for a short time. I wished that we had got to see even more of Luigi throughout GTA 3 so any form of a return for him would be great.
