Unless you've been living under a rock for the past month, you'll know that the one big talking point right now is Grand Theft Auto V. The latest iteration in Rockstar Game's long-running sandbox series, V was released September 17 and has dominated not only any spare time we have but also headlines throughout the world. Whenever a new Grand Theft Auto game rolls into town, there's always going to be a media frenzy and there has been no exception to that with the latest release. If you type in 'GTA V' on Google news, your search will yield 9,700,000 results, proof then that one of this year's most talked about games is indeed being talked about. Some of the news stories we've seen since release have been comical, others more informative, while some have been flat out outrageous. And here, we round up the latter of our favourite GTA V news stories.
10. Thousands Phone In Sick On Release Date

According to the
Telegraph, thousands of you came down with a case of "GTA flu" on September 17. IGN.com asked 10,995 gamers if they'd be taking a day off work to buy and play the game, and the results were interesting to say the least. According to its poll, a shrewd 46% of those who took part said they had booked the release date off as holiday, which you can't really knock if it was done through the correct and proper channels. However, a further 19% shamelessly confessed they would be phoning in sick at work on September 17. The remaining 35% said they would wait to play the game. Clearly not dedicated GTA fans, that bunch.
