1. Area 69 & Other Supernatural Phenomena
Back in 2004, I remember clicking through internet forums reading through all sorts of crazy rumours surrounding GTA San Andreas, with gamers flocking to the internet claiming they had seen something mysterious in Back-o-Beyond or that they'd seen strange lights in the sky. As difficult as it may be to imagine today, claims that players had seen a "Big Foot" in the forest were taken seriously, and Photoshopped images of the mysterious beast did the rounds on a frequent basis. Rockstar even pandered to claims of supernatural phenomena in the game, by including the mysterious "Lil' Probe Inn" which housed maps of supposed alien sightings. They even included an alien-obsessed character known as "The Truth" who was convinced the government were harbouring a secret at the Area 69 military base, while "ghost cars" that would mysteriously glide off the road and slope into back-o-beyond without a driver inside were also a frequent phenomenon. We hope said mysterious events make a return in GTA V, even if it's just as a knowing nod by Rockstar to those crazy days back in 2004.
