Hades: 10 Reasons You MUST Play Supergiant's New Rogue-Like
7. The Different Weapons (And Incentives To Use Them)
While it's easy to get comfortable with a single weapon and tear through the underworld with it, Hades does well to incentivize using and upgrading all six of its available weapons. Every run highlights each weapon with bonus darkness (the game's version of usable XP) and later, bonus gems (more permanent currency you keep after death).
Each weapon matches different playstyles that players can get comfortable with, with a different "aspect" or form the weapon takes that alters its abilities slightly. Of the six, you have the option to use the more traditional sword, spear, shield, bow and arrow, and the somewhat... less traditional offerings of a pair boxing gloves, and a gun.
Sword and gloves are excellent for speed and power, while the spear is a pokey weapon with surprising range. The shield is somewhat slower, but extremely defensive, while the bow is the slowest weapon, though arguably the strongest when used right. And the gun, while not nearly as powerful, makes up for it with its literally explosive special.
Add to that the surprising lore behind its hidden final forms, and using every Hades weapon becomes as exciting as discovering new story threads upon repeat runs.
