Hell Let Loose: 10 Reasons It's The Most Brutal WW2 Shooter Ever
War is Hell.
Hell Let Loose was recently released for both the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X/S and was available for free to all PS Plus Subscribers for the month of October.
The realistic WW2 shooter has been available for some time over on PC where it built up a dedicated community, however with the game’s console release it has seen a massive increase to its player base.
With mainstream shooter behemoth Call of Duty revisiting the WW2 era for the umpteenth time this autumn and its rival franchise Battlefield fresh off a brief pitstop back in the WW2 era with Battlefield V, developer Black Matter has some serious competition if their take on the WW2 shooter is to have any mainstream success.
However, Hell Let Loose’s realistic and brutal take on WW2 looks to be more than just a minor distraction, so let’s take a look at why the Black Matter’s promising FPS should be on every fan's radar.
10. Unmatched Realism
Within a few minutes of playing Black Matter’s FPS it should quickly become apparent that this is a title that wants to make you feel like you are actually taking part in one of the World’s most brutal wars.
This is an FPS that isn’t going to be known for it’s over the top action and ridiculous killstreaks, instead it looks to reward you for thinking tactically and taking up positions that provide an advantage over the opposition.
With an excruciatingly low time-to-kill that is among some of the most realistic shooters on the market, it really doesn’t take much to be killed and often only one shot is enough to bring you and your enemies down.
While no video game is ever likely to come close to the horrors of real-life warfare, Black Matter’s shooter leans towards the Military Simulation label, although it doesn’t go quite as far as some more well known titles in this genre such as the Arma series.
What Black Matter have done is create a brutally realistic WW2 shooter that is somewhat accessible to newcomers, while making sure it’s a title that can be fun for all players.
