With Kojima himself saying that the name of this game is a lie - that actually it's more of a "Director's Plus" - he noted that after looking at player data and various questionnaires surrounding Death Stranding, that way more could be done to make the experience easier and actually completable.

Whilst the jury's out on whether that fundamentally changes the appeal and tortured reward of Death Stranding at the core, at least we have a bunch of new features. Metal Gear Solid-style stealth missions seem to be what was hinted at months prior, cargo-cannons will launch items homeward and we're even getting jet-boots to leap off cliffs and see more of the world.
