How exactly will Gummi Ships be featured in Kingdom Hearts 3? Hopefully the D23 reveal will shed some light.

It's no secret that Gummi Ships have never been the most popular aspect of Kingdom Hearts. Their slow introduction in the original Kingdom Hearts made traversing between worlds extremely painful.

Whilst the bullet-hell style shooter segments of Kingdom Hearts 2 were definitely an improvement over the first iteration, they still didn't feel like they meshed well with the game itself and always felt like a chore on later playthroughs.

So how will Square Enix choose to implement them this time? Will they be purely used for traversal, akin to the Keyblade Gliders in Birth By Sleep, or will they be used in similar ways to the first two games?

As of now, we don't even really know if they'll actually feature in the game at all. The D23 trailer needs to give us as much information as possible regarding this infamous feature.
