Knights Of The Old Republic Remake - Everything We Know
1. It Might Signal The End Of SWTOR
Regardless of the form this new KOTOR game takes when/if it comes out, reimagining the Old Republic canon in order to more smoothly slot it into the new canon introduces a problem: what about SWTOR?
it's easy to reimagine a standalone game and its only sequel in order to revise several plot and story details or even make a sequel that makes everything make more sense, but an MMORPG is a very different story. Everything put in place in SWTOR since its inception is kinda set in stone, and changing it would mean messing with the accounts of a LOT of people. So if SWTOR were to suddenly lose all chance of taking place in the same canon as regular Star Wars, there's not a lot that Bioware can do about it besides hope Disney lets them keep running it anyway.
Otherwise this new KOTOR will likely signal the end of the world famous MMORPG. But hey, over 10 years of constant service is not a bad run for any MMO, especially considering it outlasted every other MMO of the early 2010's boom besides WoW. It's a miracle that this MMO has lasted as long as it has, considering that Blizzard's favorite cash cow has squashed all other pretenders in that time. And if nothing else, we got Kira Carsen back before it ended, so there's that.
