Last Of Us 2: 9 New Gameplay Mechanics That Change EVERYTHING

3. Infinite Knife Kills & How This Changes Enemy Encounters

With Ellie always having her trust switchblade handy, this eliminates the need to stockpile blades to make shivs. The switchblade is even plot-dependant, belonging to Ellie's mother Anna (as revealed in prequel comic, American Dreams).

We might be finding out more about it going forward, but point being: Rather than take this weapon away from you, Naughty Dog have greenlit an "infinite knife", and revamped Infected A.I. instead.

Now, there's a huge impetus put on moving speed, with the devs saying you'll need to perfect the "half-stick" push of the analogue stick, so you're staying as quiet as possible. Clickers can only be stealth killed if you move supremely slowly, and even then they're likely to whip around and catch you anyway.

At least we'll always have a knife handy for any enemies closing in.
