In the past, flight sequences in LEGO games have mostly been limited to on-rails sequences that don't exactly encourage freedom of expression. They were always fun - of course - but what was missing was a broader creative arena to spread your wings as it were.

For The Force Awakens, that has been dealt with my the inclusion of new arena style flight levels. In Billund I played two separate ones, both controlling the Millennium Falcon and both tasked with shooting down a set number of TIE Fighters.

Clearly, a lot of time has been spent in dogfight air combat games, as the experience is completely authentic (down to the frustrating ability to entirely lose your way, but maybe that's just me). It's a dramatically good new development, and it's definitely opened my eyes to the possibility of more air combat LEGO games.

Now, if they could just release Back To The Future for the flying Delorean or a new Harry Potter game with more free broom riding sequences, I would be a very, very happy fanboy.
