Okay, so the Bengals aren't the worst team around; far from it. They're a good overall team but their lack of big-game quality is painful. Andy Dalton is the epitome of 'uninspiring' with a famously terrible prime-time/playoff/big game record yet he's commandeering a team who's rating is joint with the Eagles and Steelers, and not far behind Super Bowl dark horses such as the Cowboys and Colts. The Bengals are a good team, but an 84 rating suggests greatness when they simply aren't. A great team wouldn't consistently flop on the highest stage, and Dalton has done that spectacularly. Even during this pre-season he's flopped, with just 46 passing yards to his name in Week 2's matchup from 13 attempts - with two interceptions. The Bengals have a ceiling, and that is the wildcard round. They're not good enough to smash it this season either.
