If you're prepared to pay through the nose and drop a lot of money on Madden, then the 33rd edition of EA's franchise can be yours pretty early. The standard edition will be released on 2 August (which is still more than a full month before that kickoff game between the Packers and the Bears). Others are stretched out over the week before.

Plump for other the Superstar or Ultimate Superstar edition of the game and you'll get it on 30 July. Meanwhile, members of EA Access, Origin Access or Origin Access Premier can get Madden 20 as early as 25 July. With the beta access now closed, this is the absolute earliest latecomers to the party can get their hands on it.

The main lure of both Superstar and Ultimate Superstar editions is that they come with Ultimate Team bonuses, so if you don't play that it's worth waiting on the standard one. There's actually very little difference between those two as well, making Superstar the best value for money if you want an elite edition.
