Madden 23: 10 Things You NEED To Know Before Buying
5. One-On-Ones Are More Important
Watch any real-life NFL game and you'll notice that teams target key positions relentlessly, or at least until opposition coaches change tact. Things often boil down to cornerbacks vs. wide receivers, 'cause QBs spot a backs' weakness and know they're onto something (teams did this against your writer's much-maligned Giants constantly last season). Does that happen in Madden? Nah, not really.

One-on-one match-ups will be more important than ever during crucial downs. Receivers have more moves like jukes and spins at their disposal, and defensive backs boast unique defensive tactics that could give them the edge over the dude catching the ball.
It's worth noting something else though: Madden's penalty sliders are a touch sensitive on default settings, so players might want to dial them down. Any dedicated one vs. one play does sound like it could be trial and error defensively/lead to loads of pass interference penalties.
