Magic: The Gathering: 10 Most Powerful Planeswalker Cards
1. Oko, Thief Of Crowns
And finally, in our number 1 spot, we have Oko, Thief of Crowns. Oko is banned in most formats, and it doesn’t take a veteran player to see why. For 3 mana, this card is straight up overpowered. Creating food tokens can keep your health up early game, and at a +2 this means that you can rack up loyalty – playing this on turn 2 gives you an effective 6 loyalty Planeswalker early enough in the game that your opponent likely won’t be able to do anything about it.
His +1 ability really feels like it should be a minus ability with how powerful it is, neutralising even the strongest of creatures and ignoring the indestructible tag as it’s a transform ability rather than a destroy ability.
Finally, his -5 ability, which is nothing in terms of loyalty counters considering you can gain 2 a turn, allows you to trade off a low impact creature or artifact, including one of your food tokens, for something of value from your enemy’s board. Sure, you’ll be given them the chance at some extra health, but when you can frequently take their best low-cost creatures, who cares?
