7. Destructible Cover
One of the biggest benefits of having the might of EA's coffers backing your project, is access to their cross-studio tech, and as such, Battlefield/Battlefront's Frostbite engine is what's going to be bringing ME 4's various worlds to life. If you're unfamiliar with the engine itself, just have a quick peek across to Google and look at any shot of Star Wars Battlefront running in-engine. It's absolutely gorgeous, and although that game does feature the occasional spot of deformable terrain, it's Battlefield that sold the notion of blowing up buildings and other structures as part of the experience. Granted it's not as in-depth as Red Faction's 'GeoMod' tech on the PS2, but with destructible cover in, it looks like you'll have to stay on your toes when engaging in firefights, alongside making the best use of your new insta-shield to stay alive. Terraforming and base-building have been hinted at as something that'll play a large part in the story, but as for how much of a planet you can really customise or blow craters into - feel free to speculate down in the comments.
