Mass Effect: 8 Ways Developers Could Produce A New Entry Worthy Of The Fanbase

4. Don't Force It To Fit A Mold That It Clearly Doesn't

Sadly, it’s impossible to write a list on this subject matter without addressing the massive, glitch-ridden elephant in the room, Mass Effect Andromeda. This spin-off game had EA streamlining written all over it. It deserves to be forgotten, but serves as a great reminder of what not to do.

Andromeda released with monstrous bugs (and not the cool alien kind you can shoot at) as well as animations worse than in Mass Effect 3, which had released on a previous-gen consoles five years beforehand. Then there’s the fact that the story was poorly written and excruciatingly boring.

Designed on the Frostbite engine, Andromeda was created to provide good combat and an online, money-making shooter experience. Whilst the combat was arguably the smoothest the series has seen, online death-matches are not why gamers pick up Mass Effect.

A new game in the series would require a suitable engine, pleasing aesthetics and a core team of writers who are passionate about delivering an unforgettable story.

Hopefully one day soon, Bioware will break free from the shackles of EA and deliver a successor to this franchise that fans can be proud of.
