Mass Effect Andromeda: 11 Leaked Details You're Not Supposed To Know

2. "A Deep System For Character Growth"

'Character growth' could be anything from RPG stat-trees, to dialogue options or even moral quandaries you can weigh in on. However, it's interesting to note that in the form filled out, the user only put they agreed "somewhat" that the systems were deep, and not "strongly", as was the case with the combat and graphics questions. Across the former games, how we were able to utilise our Paragon and Renegade status changed slightly, as ME2 locked certain good or bad (paragon/renegade) conversation options behind specific unlock trees. ME3 changed this and folded the two into system of reputation, meaning once you were established enough, you weren't then doomed to always say the best or worst thing available. This later change was a great one, but there was some fan backlash as to how it removed the idea of playing Shepard in a certain way. Obviously the label of a 'deep system' could be mechanical - by way of various biotic powers and/or character abilities showing up - or it could be through interactive options like the paragon/renegade triggers that appear in conversations. Either way, the fact Bioware are making a point to ask about it, contrasts slightly with the action-heavy focus seen otherwise. There's hope for a return to the truly custom character-driven Mass Effect style yet!
