Mass Effect Andromeda: 15 Crucial Tips & Tricks The Game Doesn't Tell You

10. How Best To Play (Seriously)

So this is a weird thing to point out, but Mass Effect Andromeda does a p*ss poor job of explaining just how to even enjoy it. Sure, you'll figure out its various combat systems through trial and error, but those opening hours can be a bit of a slog, especially if you're attempting to continue where ME3 left off.

Which is to say: This is no longer a cover-based shooter. The idea of hitting a button to 'lock' onto cover is completely gone, replaced by 'dynamic cover' that Ryder will sidle up to if you get close enough.

The 'way to play' Mass Effect Andromeda taps more into constantly being on the move, like in Uncharted. You'll want to make use of your unlimited boost-dodge and jump buttons, as you can string together a succession of the former to zip between enemies, deploy area-of-effect attacks, slam home melee stabs and then get back out again, all within a few seconds.

Movement is the name of the game, and the sooner you get used to always staying on your toes, the more fun you'll have.
