Mass Effect: Ranking Every Main Squad Member In The Original Trilogy

5. Mordin Solus

Bioware

With the slightest of minor tweaks, Mordin could have easily been a villain. The only Salarian crewmate in the trilogy, Mordin was a ruthless and murderous scientist that was responsible for engineering the Krogan genophage that is responsible for the mass infertility that has crippled the Krogan species.

Mordin was very focused on the big picture; if he had to kill a thousand to save a million, he'd do it without a second thought. Despite that, he had an affable and approachable disposition usually thanks to his bursting excitement at any sort of scientific revelation.

In Mass Effect 3, Mordin sees the error of his ways and seeks to find a cure for the genophage. His last conversation with Shepard on Tutchanka can be one of the most emotional moments of the series (depending on how you play it) as Mordin admits the genophage was a mistake and he has to sacrifice himself to right his wrong.

A layered and fascinating character, Mordin was the best new squad mate Mass Effect 2 had to offer and has the best closure out of all the squad members.
