Metal Gear Solid Remake: 10 Things That Must Remain Untouched

4. The Sniper Wolf Fights

As we've seen before, Metal Gear Solid has some exceptional boss fights; none are as atmospheric as the two fights against Sniper Wolf though. The first takes place in an intimidatingly large corridor with very little cover; you have to lie down at one end and snipe Wolf from across the arena. She hides in various places along a walkway and one clever way of knowing where she is is to look for her breath. Then it's simply a battle of your reflexes versus hers; she is renowned for her accuracy after all. As interesting as this battle is though, it's actually bettered by your second fight. Set in a wide, dramatic looking snowfield, the fight is pretty much identical to the earlier bout; it's just a lot tougher. Still, her arena has become iconic for fans of the series (it's also the location of another key battle in Metal Gear Solid 4) and her dying moments, where she condemns herself for betraying her lone wolf mannerisms, are incredibly moving, considering she's supposed to be a villain. Again, it's another series of events that simply cannot be meddled with, were Metal Gear Solid to be remade again. While Sniper Wolf is a relatively minor character, she leaves a big impact on the game; her death leaves a big impact on Otacon, for example, (her death affects him profoundly). Messing with either scene and lessening this impact is a huge no-no.

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
